One of the most powerful things I can help people do is figure out who they are under all of the noise and help them take steps toward living as their authentic self. It is one of my favorite therapeutic journeys to take people on, and seeing people come into their own, and into themselves, is one of the most rewarding things I’m able to do.

Sometimes it’s hard to know when you’re not being true to yourself. It can show up in many ways: people pleasing, enabling others, an inability to set boundaries, passive or passive-aggressive communication, low self-worth, finding relationships where you feel compelled to “fix” the other person, giving in to peer pressure, feeling like you have to be perfect for anyone to like you, not knowing what your needs are, substance overuse, putting other people’s needs above your own at all times…the list could genuinely go on and on.

You could say that many of those things are attributed to trauma, depression, anxiety, or a plethora of other mental health concerns. And you would be absolutely right. I believe that in order to successfully treat depression, anxiety, trauma, or any other mental health concern, building self-worth and moving toward a more authentic version of yourself is entirely necessary. It’s hard to have healthy relationships, to verbalize your needs, set boundaries, make goals, pursue your dreams—if you don’t know who you really are or what you really want underneath what you feel like your parents/partner/society wants you to be. I really hate the line “I would be honored to help you on your journey” that you see on almost every therapist’s profile. But, it’s also true. I would be honored to help you figure out how to shed the bullshit and fully embrace who you are. I think some beautiful growth, and a reduction in overall mental health symptoms, will likely happen along the way. Still have questions? Call or text me at 208-274-9373. If I can't answer, I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
